History

1914, Lahore (Pakistan). Derives from Sadar Anjuman Ahmadiyya, founded in Qadain (India) by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, a Mujaddid (reformer) of the 14th century Hijra and Maseeh-i-Mauood (the Promised Messiah). He died in 1908 and was succeeded by Maulana Noor-ud-Din as the first religious head of the community. Upon the latter's death in 1914, the Jamaat split into 2 sections. The Secretary of the Jamaat, Maulana Muhammad Ali, together with 7 of the original 14 members of the Executive Committee formed by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, went to Lahore and founded Ahmadiyya Society for the Propagation of Islam -- Ahmadiyya Anjuman-i-Ishaat-i-Islam Lahore, also referred to as Lahore Group of Ahmadies.
