1978
History
1978, as World Export Processing Zones Association – Association mondiale des zones franches industrielles (AMZFI), following proposals made by UNIDO in 1974. Final draft of statutes approved 1978, Manila (Philippines). Statutes amended 1985, Flagstaff AZ (USA), when organization ceased to be inter-governmental, instead grouping Economic Processing Zones, Free Zones and Export Industrial Parks, whether public or private, as well as associated professionals and advisors, throughout the world. Also referred to in French as Association mondiale des zones industrielles d'exportation (AMZIE) and as Association mondiale des zones industrielles libres.
Aims
Assist developing countries in obtaining the greatest possible benefit from Industrial Parks, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), Free Zones, Free Ports, and Export Processing Zones (EPZs); improve international business and distribution through the use of such zones.
