Founded

1964-08-15

History

Established by resolution 1035 (XXXVII) of E-XE3377 - ECOSOC , of which it is a subsidiary body. Original terms of reference contained in ECOSOC resolution 1079 (XXXIX), 28 Jul 1965, have been modified under subsequent resolutions. Current title adopted 1998, by ECOSOC resolution 1998/46.

Aims

Provide independent expert advice to ECOSOC on a wide range of issues related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; review the status of least developed countries (LDCs) and monitor their progress during and after graduation from the LDC category.
