The event will provide a perfect venue for over 3,000 expected attending MICE industry professionals to engage with 300 exhibiting local service providers, including convention bureaus, unique venues, and travel agencies.
The event will kick-off on June 12 with an evening Welcome Reception and the official program will continue over the next two days. Local convention bureaus will showcase local food specialties before the reception, giving visitors a chance to taste various local flavors from across Korea while interacting freely with other participants. Buyers participating in the event have the opportunity to take part in pre and post tours.
“This year has significance because it is KME’s 20th Anniversary. We hope this will serve as a new beginning, marking KME’s first step in expanding beyond Korea to become an exhibition of global scale in the next 20 years,” said Namchun Kim, Director of the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Meetings & Incentives Team.
This year’s theme is ‘Green MICE’, showcasing the latest sustainable, eco-friendly trends in the MICE industry. Various ‘green’ elements will be incorporated throughout the actual event, including a KME 2019 app which will allow visitors to access event information and program schedules on their phones, PDF directory books will replace posters, and the use of reusable tumblers will be encouraged to reduce paper and plastic waste.
The event will also introduce new programs such as Knowledge Hub and KME Pitching. The KME Pitching program will offer start-ups and event participants the opportunity to pitch their content to buyers attending KME. A separate ‘Pitching Stage’ will be prepared within the event hall, where each group or individual will have 15 minutes to present their pitch, including time for Q&A.
