Country civic space ratings and data on top violations to the freedoms of association, peaceful assembly and expression are used on a regular basis by policymakers, journalists, activists, civil society organisations and other stakeholders.

28 September 2022 UNESCO will celebrate the International Day for Universal Access to Information in Tashkent with a global conference dedicated to artificial intelligence, e-governance and access to information. This event is a continuation of recent activities on the subject such as the Forum on Artificial Intelligence recently organized in southern Africa, and will serve as a preparatory stage for the Global Forum on AI scheduled for December in Prague.

This initiative seeks to ensure full single market freedoms for associations, simplifying their cross-EU activities and promoting their fundamental rights.

Current rules create obstacles, such as additional registrations, when associations operate across EU borders. This may distort the market for non-profit organisations, affecting the EU democratic space and the exercise of EU fundamental rights.

In 2028, Busan will host the World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM), a major international academic conference that will bring together over 3,000 experts in computational mechanics from around the world. WCCM is a biennial conference organized by the International Association for Computational Mechanics. It serves as a platform for sharing the latest research and innovations in computational solid mechanics and computational fluid dynamics through discussions and lectures.

The SSAI Congress is a bi-annual meeting meant for the professionals of the field of anaesthesiology. The congress is held in a different Nordic city that holds a University Hospital each time – the congress is held in Finland every ten years. In 2024, the honor was granted to Oulu.

The Fab Lab Conference is an annual event that rotates globally. In 2024, the conference took place in Mexico. The conference is organised in partnership with the Fab Foundation and the average number of participants is around 800 people. The City of Oulu will act as the responsible organiser and the University of Oulu as a partner.

The Coimbra Group Annual Conference and General Assembly attracted around 300 participants from 40 universities across Europe to Turku, Finland.

The Coimbra Group Annual Conference and General Assembly, hosted by the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University, was organized in Turku from June 4th to June 7th 2024. The event centered on the theme "Research and Education - Most Impactful Together", spotlighting the synergies between research and education.

The 45th Scientific Assembly of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR 2024) is the first large international space event to be held in Korea since the foundation of the Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA). The Committee on Space Research is the largest consortium on space science in the world, and COSPAR 2024 brought together about 2,700 space scientists from approximately 60 countries, creating an opportunity to promote Korea’s achievements in space science over the years.

From July 13 to 21, the 45th Scientific Assembly of the Committee on Space Research (COSPAR 2024) was held at Busan’s BEXCO. The Committee on Space Research is the largest consortium on space science in the world, and COSPAR 2024 rallied about 2,700 space scientists from approximately 60 countries for discussions around future directions and international cooperation in space development.
