19 Aug 1969, Washington DC (USA), during 1st (organizing) Congress, when constitution was adopted, following recommendations 1966, Madrid (Spain), of 6th World Forestry Conference, at which a provisional union of 5 associations was formed. As of Sep 1998, under reconstruction. No recent activity reported.
Aims
Sustain national forestry societies through exchange of ideas and information; support professional natural resource education regarding sustainable and ethical forest management; publicize responsibilities of the forestry profession and support participation of professional foresters in activities and meetings important to the future of forests; provide national and international organizations and agencies with expertise and with recommendations of the global forestry profession for better natural resource management; champion the practice and profession of forestry and betterment of the human condition through promotion of conservation and use of the world's forest resources.
