| | | | | | Two Novelties for Directors of Belgian International Associations Legal advice. The Belgian Law governing international non-profit associations of 27 June 1921 is set to disappear and the new “Belgian Code on Companies and Associations” has just entered into force. Two novelties are of particular interest to directors of international associations having the form of an international non-profit association governed by Belgian law. A first novelty is the possibility to delegate daily management matters formally to a daily management body. A second novelty is the increased liability for members of the board. The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) provides a wide range of support and advocacy services for 134 national associations of the deaf. The mission of the WFD is to promote the human rights of deaf people and full, quality and equal access to all spheres of life, including self-determination, sign language, education, employment and community life. The World Congresses of the WFD are designed to bring together delegates from member national associations, youth organizations and other participants who seek to partake in global exchange of information and furtherance of the WFD vision, mission and goals. The XVIIIth World Congress will take place from 23 to 27 July 2019 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.

| |  | According to the 7th edition (released November 2018) of the UIA Survey on International Meeting Issues 27% of surveyed international associations cite participatory obstacles such as budget reductions, travel costs, and visa issues as the number one concern for future meeting activities. The second biggest worry is reduced funding, with 24% of respondents indicating this as their biggest concern.
