When the Union of International Associations (UIA) first launched the Associations Round Table in 2007, we never could have foreseen that it would take us around the world to meet international association representatives from all four corners of the earth. But here we are. The UIA has flags on the map for Belgium, Singapore, Korea, Ireland, Thailand, and Monaco. This year, we expanded ever further; the Round Table Asia-Pacific went to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the Round Table Europe headed to the city of Lyon, France. | | | | | Executive Master in International Association Management Training. The next intake of the Executive Master in International Association Management starts in January 2019. This 17-day executive training for association professionals is operated by the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. The teaching faculty, drawn from Solvay academic experts, is teamed up with association executives from the programme's supporting partners, Union of International Associations (UIA), Federation of European and International Associations (FAIB), European Society of Association Executives (ESAE) and Visitbrussels. | | | | | | UIA Survey on International Meeting Issues Associations Survey. Did you know that half of international associations hold an exhibition in conjunction when organising a meeting? Or that 87% of international associations meetings have less than 1000 participants? These are just some of the insights shared in the report of the 2018 Survey on International Meeting Issues. The 2018 edition follows surveys undertaken on behalf of UIA’s Associate Members in 1985, 1993, 2002, 2009, 2013 and 2015. With the aid of its sponsors Seoul Tourism Organization, Singapore Tourism Board and Monaco Convention Bureau, UIA was able to reach an even greater number of associations for 2018. | | | | | Welcome Moravia Convention Bureau New Associate Member. UIA welcomes Moravia Convention Bureau (MCB). Moravia Convention Bureau (Czech Republic) provides organisers assistance and independent complex information for planning and holding congresses, conferences, business meetings and incentive events in Southern Moravia and in the City of Brno. MCB is a specialised part of the official organisation of destination management and marketing of the Tourist Authority – South Moravia, interest groups of legal entities. MCB is mainly a contact point and support point for organisers and planners. It cooperates with representatives of public administration and local service providers, which includes the sphere of accommodation, rental of conference facilities, trade fair halls, related equipment, catering, transportation, supporting programmes etc.

| | | According to the 59th edition (published June 2018) of the UIA International Meetings Statistics Report: in the fifteen years between 2003 and 2017, 27.1% of events organized by international associations had fewer than 100 participants, 76.7% had fewer than 500 participants, and 88.5% had fewer than 1,000 participants. Events with over 5,000 participants accounted for 1.9% of all international association meetings in this period.
